In India, as an emerging economy a key challenge is to harness the strengths and achievements in technologies developed in Horticulture while paving the way through capacity building and new modalities of training for traditional farmers as well as an IT-savvy younger generation, a significant force in the economy.
With shrinking land and scarce natural resources the path ahead for the Indian horticulture should be to diversify into hi-tech horticulture to improve the productivity and quality. Institute of Horticulture Technology has been established to serve as a knowledge bank and to evolve as an interactive learning centre in production, post-harvest management and value addition of horticultural crops.
The comprehensive hands on training imparted at the institute cater to the needs and demands of horticulture industry involved in import, exports and distribution or production of horticulture plants, flowers, fruits, seeds. Besides progressive farmers, we also train future horticulture managers, supervisors and entrepreneurs who can scientifically manage horticulture, by offering superior learning opportunities, along with a perfect blend of practical training during the course of training.
