With shrinking land and scarce natural resources, the path ahead for the Indian horticulture should be to diversify into hi-tech horticulture to improve the productivity and quality. Institute of Horticulture Technology serve as a knowledge bank and to evolve as an interactive learning centre in production, research, post-harvest management and value addition of horticultural crops.
Recognition: The Institute has been empanelled by Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India for trainings in Hi Tech Horticulture. The Institute provides trainings in Hi Tech Horticulture to farmers, extension officials, future horticulture managers, supervisors and entrepreneurs by offering superior learning opportunities, along with a perfect blend of hand on trainings. The comprehensive training imparted at the institute cater to the needs and demands of horticulture industry involved in import, exports and distribution or production of horticulture plants- vegetables, flowers, fruits, seeds.
Techno Savvy Faculty: IHT has a well-qualified in house and guest national and international faculty in different disciplines of horticulture namely Fruits, Vegetables, Floriculture, Biotechnology, Plant Protection and Greenhouse Technology. The faculty is well versed with the commercial application of the technologies for quality and profitable production of horticulture crops. The Institute serves as knowledge bank for Hi-Tech horticulture, protected cultivation, micro irrigation and precision farming.
World Class Infrastructure: The institute has world class infrastructure with well-furnished Wi-Fi enabled lecture rooms and its own technology park for showcasing innovative technologies and providing “Hands on Training”. The curriculum is well balanced and gives the trainees adequate exposure to the innovative technologies in horticulture, especially in protective cultivation of crops. The institute library provides full access to the relevant books and journals. Full time faculty members are available to advise the trainees about how to get benefitted by various state and central government schemes. The residential hostel has excellent sports facilities and provides a homely atmosphere for the trainees.
Events for Interactive Lectures and Hands on Training: IHT conducts yearly events such as HORTIINDIA, Farmers Day, Demonstrations, Campaigns, Exhibitions and Advisory services.
In these events innovative technologies are demonstrated to the farmers and other horticulture functionaries to empower them with the latest techniques used in hi-tech Horticulture and they were given opportunities to have hands-on all these hi-tech practices. The visiting faculty of IHT from Israel, Netherlands and Chinaalso share their experiences with the participants. Fruitful sessions are organized for interactive lectures by eminent scientist and industrialist for the benefit of farmers and others.
