Institute of Horticulture Technology located at Greater Noida NCR is one of the unique institutes established during the year 2009 under the aegis of Akhil Bhartiya Grameen Vikas Sanstha with a mission to disseminate Hi-Tech Horticulture knowledge and skills to various stake holders such as farmers, extension officials, entrepreneurs, women and youth in rural as well as Urban-Peri Urban areas. Dr. K.L. Chadha, Padamshree awardee and a renowned horticulture scientist of national and international repute chairs the elite advisory committee of eminent horticulturists and experts that guides the institutes functioning. Institute of Horticulture Technology is a premier national institute that has been empanelled by Government of India and recognized by some agricultural universities for capacity building and providing hands on training in Hi-Tech Horticulture.
The quality and strength of IHT faculty is unmatched, as normally such an expert faculty is not available at one place in most of other training programmes, beside IHT’s in house qualified and dedicated faculty, a stream of visiting faculty from Israel, Netherlands and other European countries with vast experience and updated information in their respective fields also enrich our training programmes. The Institute serves as knowledge bank for Hi-Tech horticulture, protected cultivation and precision farming technologies and to that end Institute’s faculty keeps on developing updated study material in the form of books, handouts and power point presentations on training topics with updated literature, so as to provide trainees the recent information available on different technologies for their ready reference and application
The Institute has world class infrastructure for imparting trainings on knowledge based Hi-Tech horticulture, this includes a series of greenhouses from simple walk in tunnels to fully automated,computerized climate control green houses for cultivation of vegetables, flowers and production of quality nursery and planting material of horticultural crops. The computerized fertigationand micro-irrigation systems are fully operational at the institute to facilitate precision farming. Hi-Tech horticulture production system at the institute is further supplemented with 4 acres open cultivation area with demonstrations on high density plantations, commercial vegetable and flower cultivation.
IHT has fully furnished Wi-Fi enabled class rooms with seating capacity for trainees in modern library with relevant publications, computer lab and museum with variety of components used in protected cultivation, our hostel facilities arrangements for males and females, with cafeteria
The institute has established another campus in Mandira, Guwahati, Assam in order to facilitate training of farmers and entrepreneurs of North-eastern states. The campus has 150 acre cultivable land and hostel for residential trainings. For capacity building programmes and partnership projects the campus focusses on the priority areas of the regions like orchids, protected cultivation and promotion of innovative technologies for crops of local importance.
Our extensive portfolio of courses at the campus includes short term, long term and exposure programmes, besides the regular courses, ‘The On-Site’ training programmes at state/district/block/village level are also conducted in arrangement with local institutions / KVK / PRI across the country.
The medium of instruction is English mixed with vernacular version of Hindi & pure local language Instructions are delivered through interactive lectures, limiting the theory to what is strictly necessary and by involving the trainees in Hands on Trainings. Institute conducts field visits and other technical exposure visits for the trainees for better understanding and live demonstration of the technologies.
Institute conducted trainings for different states of India like Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, Odisha and abroad –mainly Tunisia, Ethopia, Ghanna, Sudan, Tajikistan, Palestine, Vietnam, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Bahrain, and etc. in last eight years.
